BiographyA decade spent on one difficult problem
Emil Mørk Henningsen is a specialist in dermatology and one of Denmark’s leading practitioners in cosmetic and aesthetic dermatology. Acne scarring makes up more than half of his practice.
In 2014–15 he trained under Professor Chu at the West London Dermatology Centre on NHS registration, where he learned the manual procedures of acne scar revision — subcision, chemical reconstruction, punch techniques — that remain the backbone of the work. He has since developed his own techniques and built an international network of colleagues in the field.
In 2017 he left the Department of Dermatology at Odense University Hospital to concentrate entirely on highly specialised treatment of acne scars, with a focus on laser treatment and manual procedures. In 2019 he founded Cutis Clinic in Odense; the clinic now operates in Odense, Copenhagen, Køge and Aarhus.
He treats patients from across Europe, the United States, Asia and Africa, teaches at dermatological congresses, and trains emerging dermatologists in skin and laser treatment. He describes his own approach as a fusion of science and art — which, watching him map a cheek under three different lights before touching it, is not as poetic as it sounds.
